tana , according to the Butte Inter-
Ocean , which says it was so intense
the other day that the only way the
temperature could bo registered was
by placing the thermometer on the

the people of Butte could only meas
ure the fall of temperature with a
yard stick. When the weather slightly

A prominent citizen wont to the
hydrant this morning to draw a bucket
of water , and in returning to the
house spilled a little of its contents ,

was compelled to leave his boot in the
