Ihe stock market developed more
strength than yesterday. There was a
gradual upwud movement of prices with
out even any fractional reaction , and
although the tdvanco was not large , and
the vuliune of business comparatively
small , theio was apparently a more confi
dent feeling. The stock market was ntrong
daring tbo last hour of buoineae , and for
thatmitter throughout the day. There
wu scarcely a fiao'.ionnl reaction through
out the entire day. la the last hour
pricea advanced J@ } per cent for so
stocks , but for most of them were quiet
and firm at the highest pricc.sof the dv.
The net result of the day's buamesi wa <
an important increase in the volnme of
' / business aud an advance in prices of from
' ( i to 22 per cent.
