Governments were weak and j per cent lower for 5's , i per cent lower for l's reg istered and -I'H coupon , but unchanged for 3's , 4V coupon and 4'a registered. The net result of the forenoon' * busiucea in tbo stock market was a fractional de cline on tbo gcmrl lint from last night's closing prices , At thcopcning prices were i@i ; per cect lower than laat night , but were stronger during the next fifteen min utes. From 11:30 : to 12 o'clock the market was heavy , a special feature being Iho Delaware , Lackswanna & Western , which declined 1J per cent to 1 27J , During the next half hour the market was compara tively steady , Tha general result of the hour aud a half following showed little changes in prices , though the tendency was to a lower range. On the laat hour the market waa stronger and the net reiult wai nu advance of j@li per cent , and on many stocks the highest price ? of the day wore made. The most active were Den ver , Delawoie , Lsckawann * k Western. St. Paul , Western Union and Union Pa cific , all of which were .strong1 n the finnl dealings tbo Mutual Telcgragh company advanced to 2" > from 231. The Peat , speaking of the condition i f the stool ; market , siva : "It continues to see-taw in a slate of uncertainty. Tliero H no well defined tendency in either direc tion. To-Jay has shown a s ronger mar ket than ytverday , but not oulHciently HJ to indicate an important cbatifto in the general situation. The ssasou of tight money baa passed and there is no further caiua for apprehension on thitt score. lut ! the money quetition han cut no figure in the fluctuations of Ilia .lock market for a month.rlhe general complaint among brokers is that there is no buying by the outside public ; all trading is of that dabb ling kind which is done for advaucea or - v ' * declines ot fraction ] of a cent , aud signifies nothing as regards any general tendency of prices of stocks. The readiness with which good railway loans nro not ? nego tiated shows thrft thera ia plenty of capital for such investment , aud it fo presumable that there ia also plenty that would seek more speculative investment in stocks if the present feeling of distrust uLout the management was removed. " The Pcht aho , referring to the courts and the Western Union , ears the grsntiEg of the injunction by the court to'day against the payment of a dividend on the § 15,525,090 additional capital stock isauud to the ordinal atoclcholdem of the W * stern Union Telegraph stocks at the time of the consolidation with the Aiiericin Union Telegraph and Atlantic & Pftcific doe ? not seem to i.iTect the market prices ot the present stook. Upon the same subject The JIail and Express says : "The question arises as to how the court can restrain the payment ol j a dividend which has already been paid , or si , how illegally issued stoclc can bo tingled ' ? t- . out for refusal to transfer. " 'A . In other words , it is thought the injunc. tions amount to little except no far na they add to existing complications. aOVKB.NHENTS. Ycbtcrday.
