OMAHA , October 2 ( , 1882.
To the Editor of Tun BKE :
Ia THE BKE of October 4'there appeared
pearod an article taken from the
Grand Island Times of the 3J inat. ,
which represents mo as a very bad
man. Now , the charges against me
are entirely untrue and false as to my
bad treatment of my wifo. Mrs.
Voira wont to Grand Island , ostensi
bly on a visit , as I thought , in com
pany with her father , and after Mrs.
Voirs got there she wrote mo a hittot
dated Grand Island , April 11 , 1881 ,
which road as tollows : Bncu ,
I have a chance to go to keeping
boarders and want the geode shipped
up right away. Mrs. said she
would pack the things for mo ( this
agreement I know nothing aboul ) and
vou had better lot her do it , &o , &e.
Now Brice I wish you would let me
start and BOO what I can do ; if you
can spare a little uioney to start with
I shall not have to ask you for any
more for awhile , to all of this I pro
tested but to no avail. Now as to
what brooght out this article in the
Timea , I waa in Grand Island August
4th , and what I saw I was convinced
that my throe little children wore no
getting enough to oat. As Mrs. Veirs
had only ono boarder it wan impossi
ble for her to make a living ;
hence I took the coursu I did to got
my children where I could take care
of them , and for this X am called a
brute , etc , etc. Now to show that
article contained fdlaohoodu ic statea
that Mrs. Veira had two brothers liv
ing in Grand Iiluml , when the truth
is Mrs , Yeirs only had ono brother ,
and ho died when ho was only fivn
years old , and all the balance of the
charges are c < itMlly untruo. Now , if
I am to bo condemned , then 1 must
confess I see it in a ditTcrmit light
from other people. Buicc Vr.nw.
