The wholesale trade of the city for the
past week is reported fair for the season ,
and the weather lua been generally agreeable -
able , and acceptable to all clabtea of in
dustry. While we have had more rain than
was necessary during the week , it has been
confined to showers and has not materially
interfered with busiuess.
There has been a moderate trade in dry
goods , carpets , manufactured clothing ,
boots and shoes , drugs , tinner's stock , and
building material on mail order account'
and prices and values wera essentially un (
changed , though cotton goods all hold firm
at quotations ; groceries show steady ac
tivity food sales having beea reported in
sugais , teas , coffees , syrups , rice and other
staples ; flab being in particularly good de
mand , and prices comparatively steady.
The produce business has been fairly ac
tive.

The receipts of butter and fgg * have
been light , and quotations well main
tained ,
Potatoes are coming m freely arid prices

Vegetables ot all kinds are plenty , and
eold fairly on a declining market , as did
also grceu fruit , berries , etc.
Tomatoes , in good condition , are selling
to-day at 1 00@1 25 per box ; onions at 1 50
per bu-hel ; cabbage , 75@100 per dozen.
Apples are In goud supply , and selling at
3 03@4 00 per barrel. The same may besaid
of peaches , they selling at 75@1 25 per
box as to quality.
Strawberries ; receipts , limited , the
season being nearly over , selling at 2 75 ®
3 00 per case , of 1C < iuarts.
.Raspberries are also In limited tupply ,
demand fair.and selllug at 4 80 per case , o
24 quarts.
Red raspberries are In fair supply , and
selling at 3 25 per case , of 21 pints.
Whortleberries are arriving freely , and

Currants ; receipts are liberal , and sell
