Kvcnls of the week In financial circles
were important only for the movements in
the spare list on the Block exchange. In
early dealings there was n strong under
tone , nnd nearly all the leading stocks at

bear attack against the market , more | nr-
tlcnlarly ngalcst coal stocks nnd lre. ! !
The result of this was a decline of 1 to 4
per cent in the general list nnd GJ per cent
in Now Jersey Central. Manhattan Kle-

waukee were exceptions and recorded some
advance. The money market was easy
throughout the week , and rates for call

There was renewed depression on'ho
stock exchange to-day , and under the con
tinuation of boar raids of yesterday and
various unfavoiablo rooorts from the west
the list declined i to S per cent. The
pressure to tell at intervals was very
marked , especially In case of the New
Jersey Central , Denver & Itio Grande and
Louisville & Nashville. The last named
was depressed by the announcement that
rink had declined the presidency of the
road. Shortly before noon the pressure to
soil abated and a recovery of A to 2 per
cent ensued. This , however , was not
maintained , the market again becoming
weak and declining under renewed press
nro to sell. In the fia.il dealings there was
a steadier feo'ing and a fractional recov
of ery. Tha Louisville & Nashville eoli'
