Kvcnls of the week In financial circles were important only for the movements in the spare list on the Block exchange. In early dealings there was n strong under tone , nnd nearly all the leading stocks at tained higher prices owing to favorable advice ! , but toward the close the labor strikes were made the basis for ft sharp bear attack against the market , more | nr- tlcnlarly ngalcst coal stocks nnd lre. ! ! The result of this was a decline of 1 to 4 per cent in the general list nnd GJ per cent in Now Jersey Central. Manhattan Kle- vatc'l ' and St. Paul , Minneapolis k Mil waukee were exceptions and recorded some advance. The money market was easy throughout the week , and rates for call loans ranged from 2J to 3 per cent. Oov- eminent bonds vvcro dull throughout. IVeign exchange were dull with little erne no change in rates , BANK KTATRMKXl. The bunk statement to-day is unfav ora- ble. There was renewed depression on'ho stock exchange to-day , and under the con tinuation of boar raids of yesterday and various unfavoiablo rooorts from the west the list declined i to S per cent. The pressure to tell at intervals was very marked , especially In case of the New Jersey Central , Denver & Itio Grande and Louisville & Nashville. The last named was depressed by the announcement that rink had declined the presidency of the road. Shortly before noon the pressure to soil abated and a recovery of A to 2 per cent ensued. This , however , was not maintained , the market again becoming weak and declining under renewed press nro to sell. In the fia.il dealings there was a steadier feo'ing and a fractional recov of ery.
