A good bus line is promptly on hand , however , to transfer the travel ers and their bappngo. The city was laid out with a public square , and the principal business houses clastoring about it. One of the peculiar culiar features of this town is the largo shade trees which Imvo been planted by the early settlers , and con stantly protected by the thrifty burgers. The principal hotel ac commodations are offered nt the HOUSTON HOOBE , by Mr George Calph , who scoma to take ns much pride in the moiwlor tree at his front door , and whicl comes up through his open portico , as ho does in entertaining a candidate for congress. Watson , the cashier and man aging o nicer hero , is an oxperioncet and efiiciont gentleman who seems to bo an important spoke 'in the business wheel of the town. This bank was established in 1870 , is prepared for a general banking business , is just fit- ting'up its rooms with modern taste and convenience , and has a largo busi ness with the stock and grain dealers. J.
