A Now Church In Brooklyn With a Creed of Miraculous euros Faith an Essential. New York Her 'd. For some weeks post Brooklyn has rejoiced in the possession of a now church , which , if the promise of its advertisements is kept , is likely to become - como ono of'tho moat popular in a.city of popular chinches. At present it is of modest pretensions ( save in riapoot o its pastor ) and moots for woruhip .wico a week in a small hall on the corner ot Myrtle avenue and Adolphi street. Aneatly painted sign-outside , ho door announces in brief the mi- aculous powers claimed by the pastor , ho Hov. Dr. llonck , but these claims are more fully set forth on a small landbill which was distributed among .ho congregation last ovoningVwhich read : HeaifnV VheSic'k by "Laying on of Han is. " ( I 0 r. , til ) Adelphi Hall , corner Myrtle nvenuo nnd Adelphi St. , Every \VednexUy evening at 7:39 : , Eov. Dr. filonck will Lecture and Heal the Sick , by ' "Laving on of Ilandsl" Toiussaid : "And the o signs shall fulloMr them that believe ; in My name * * they shall Uy La ds on the sick , and they shall recover" Mark ; xvi. , 1C , 17. At 8 o'clock the little hall was.full , and Moody and Sankoy hymn bopku iad bccu'diatributod ' as freely as haud jilli , BO that all was ready for the ser vice , oxceptini ; that the rovorcnd doo- ; or had not appeared. The congrega tion was not , apparently , ono of cur- osity'scokorb nor of ignorant fanati cal pooplo. They woru mostly pcoplo who seemed of moro than average in- ; olligonoo , and who lookad as if they iad coino to worship cortainly'uot ' to coff. Hero and there was ono who was oridintly kick. To one of theao the nsb r s id : "He can euro you , And I will prove it to you to-night. He took 11 the muocuUr rhenmatiim out > f my baok last February and Ihtvon't jad a sign of it tinea. Preuntly a ) oy with A f oo swollen to the eizo of ; wo faces came in and a dlaboliovor in back Boat said : "Well , if he curca lim I'll bo saliaQed. " Tlio boy was aken to a front seat. By the time Dr. Monck appeared .he hall was crowdod. Ho is a stout , rather dark comploiionod man of oar- y middle age , with on English face and a strong English accent , a broad , ntolloctual brow and a tull board. Ho read a chapter from ono of the gospels , with copious remarks on the power of aith , dwelling on the eymbollo signifi cance of words , and quoting from yea- orday'a Herald to emphasize hio re marks. How little faith there is , said to. When people have seen the sick icaledhcro ana have gone away and teld it their friends Imvo said , "An other good man gene mad ) " How much evidence is necessary to estab- ish a fuel that is unexpected ? Ho claimed that the promise to the died- ) les that they should work miracles was given to believers of all timosond hat miracles can bo wrought to-day as well as in the olden time. THE CKGED OH HHALIW1 EXPOUNDED , After the singing of hymns and a > rayor Dr. Monck prouclicd from the cxt on his handbill , Col. Ingorsoll , le eaid , denies that the miracles of ho Now Testament over occurredand told that they could not , because if hey happened then they would now. 3ut , said the preacher , there IB ouch a thing now. The very advertise- uonts in the papers show that there s suoh a thing as healing by the lay ng on of hanuB. Some of those who .dvprtiso muy bo humbugs , but the act that they advertise shows there is uch a thing. President Garfield be loved in it and was cured of ono or wo diseases by the lay ing on of hands > eforo ho fell into the hands of the doclorf. ShakoapoorosBid : 'Throw physio to the dog * , " but lh t was before - fore there was any society for th&t prevention of cruelty to aniraala. Any ecclesiastical history shows that the power of healing , the sick by the laying on of hands was oxcraliod by believers in the church three hundred years after Christ. All faith in human testimony must bo given up if ono doca not believe the saints performed wonders of healing. But to the present day the same power is possessed by thousands of people , and the object of this church is to teach you that it belongs to all who will bolisvo. Men ask if I be- Hero this. I will not answer to them , but to Thoo. 0 God , I say as Thou livcat I do boilovo it , and I know it. But the most practical way to show this is by curing the sick , as I have done and many others have done. But only these who have faith can bo healed. A mother brought n child hero a little time ago , which was born totally blind. The mother had fatth , and wo took the child iu our arms and prayed and loft it to God , That night it perceived the light , and the next day it could see a bright color. The mother ia hero. Is U true , madam ) 'Tea , sir , " said a hdy in the con gregation. rBACTIOAT. ILLUSTRATIONS. Then , after another hymn had been sung , Dr. Monck asked all these in the audionoo who wore suffering paiu to hold up their hands. , Several did so. "In the name of the Lord I servo I dismiss your pains , " ho said , shout- out the word "dlaruiu. " Til ask you in a few minutes how you are. " Then ho wont from ouo to another of these who were waiting , beginning with the blind babe , aud praying from ono to another. One young girl h * declared wnt deaf , Ho touched her and prayed aud the girl at onoo de clared that she heard him when ho whispered to hoi. Then the boy with a swollen face said ho had slept soundly all night for the first time in five years the night bo was first "touched , " and felt bat ter every time ho was touched. Ono af tor another moro than a doion persons were touched , aud soiuo were at bnco , so they declare , instantly re lieved. Some others , Dr. Monok de clared , would bo batter , for th cures wore sometimes gradual. One case , ho said , was , ho feared , perfectly hopeless , and the patient said the duo * torn had declared that his optio nerve was severed. However , ho prayed over the totally blind man who de clared that ho had faith. No inunodi- ate relief seemed to bo obtained , but Dr. Monok asked him to como again. Then a woman who said she was very deaf , was prayed over , and afterward repeated questions Dr. Monok asked her iu a whisper. A child was cured , apparently , and according to her own declaration , of a very severe headache. Other wonders too , were to all Boom ing , performed , until the congregation was in a turmoil of excitement , and very few hoard the benediction. Dr. Monok had apparently forgot- tan that no was going to ask those who iad hold up their hands concerning ; ho result , but the reporter sought out.ouo of these , a fine-looking old gentleman , and questioned him. "I certainly felt a shjck when ho said 'dismiss,1" said the gentleman , "but I don't know if I am cured. I have aero foot , but I certainly have no pain in them now. " . , The reporter then asked Dr. Monok why the case of the man with _ the savored optic nerve was an impossible ono. "I don't know why it is so , " ho replied , "but I find such cases cannot be cured. " "But why doesu't the promise hold in such a case as well as any other ? " asked the reporter. "I don't know , " said Dr. Mouek. Hints to , Boolroopera An Australian bee-keeper throws out these ideas that may bo of value to honey-producers elsewhere : First of all , let it bo your constant aim to keep your colonies as strong as possi ble. Never allow them to throw moro than one a warm whether honey or increase bo your object , it matters not. Most eminent apUriiina Aoom , in this respect at nil pventi to bo unanimous , and so , I think , ought we to be cent percent should satisfy any one ; at all events try it under favorable - blo conditions and I have no fear to leave the issue iu your hands. Never , if you can otherwise avoid it , go be tween the b'eca.and their fly-hole , and you will escape many a ating. Whou you open the hive prevent jarring as much as possible , for it only angora the bees when you knock the hive about , and makes them readier to , at tack you : but never flinch when they shoot only at you or onto your hand , and you will find that jou will seldom got a sting. Bu sparing of smoke , un- lets they nro really vicious , but then matter them by all means. Always re member that it iu easier for you to take bocs to u distant ( mature than for the been to take ndrantugo of uucli pasture. When far away it will not benefit bocs much , far Iwu yourself ; it will only bo a from hand-to-mouth kffair with thorn if they Imvo far to go. Ncyer feed your bees outnido nor leave any combs about the hive * ; see that they have eufh'cibiit honey in winter , or in fact at any time , and you will not bo much pestered with robioso. Also , never allow a colony to remain qnocnleas lonpcr than a day without giving them the material to rnieo another queen , Remember the loss a queen is to a colony during a einglo day when honey is plentiful outside. Tlien as to putting on the Kuporo. Unices your stock hive ia filled don't expect the bees to go up into the super ; it is only when their fltorago room in the brood hive is insigiiificiont that they will look for room above , and if you act upon my advicn in regard to compelling brood rearing you will leave them but little rtorago room indeed in the brood hive. Of course when brood roaring is protfy well nt nti end they v ill fill all empty brood combs with both honey nud pollen for ranter use , and in case you might overreach yourself and ( ho Ices by depriving them of too much , I will show you how you can always bo on the tafo side. Ascertain the weight of your hive ; add to this about eight pounds the weight of combs ank bees , and when tuo hive shows another twenty or twenty-fivo pounds , above that , then you may rest satis fied that that colony will not parish during winter for want of sufficient stores.
