There has been during the past week a depressed feeling regarding government bonds , aud the price has been at a stand still. The latest quotations to-day beinj , almost identical with those of lint Friday or the 4 and 4J par cent , bonds , but i to j per cent lower for the extended D'0 , It is apprehended that if the bill now being dii cussed in congress extending the charters of the national banks ! i3ll pc * * without radical change from the recommendations of the committee , the long term bonds o : the government issues will surely feel the effects , and make substantial advance in price. The market to-day is quiet aud dull , tbo , only activity displayed being in local no- curities , which since the opening of the new stock exchange have been imbued with new life. Government bonds ara quiet at name rates as yesterday , and are in little ilo mand.
