The events of the week in financial cir cled were less impottant than for n Icng timepaBt. Money was eosv , nearly all biulnets on call having been done at 2@4 tier cent , Foreign exchange firm throughout. Government bonds opened strong for long data issues and weak for extended bond * , but the former afterwards declined J , while the latter advanced n ( ractlonat the close. The n hole market wa * firm , with demand chiefly for fours , which re covered Borne. Hallway and miscellaneous speculation wan very dull , and the volume of business smaller than for any previous day of the year. The market was weak in the earlier dealings , declined 1@3 $ per cent for lending stocks , but later oo became firm and recovered part of the decline. Changes in a few of the tpecialtlos wore more important , the Manhattan Elevated advanced 5 per cent and the Richmond ft Danville stock declining 4J@10 per cent , larger classes of speculators were prac tically out of the market during the week , most of them having withdrawn from active speculation pending further devel opments ia regard to crops nnd exports of gold. A strong tone prevailed throughout and closing quotations were about the highest to-day. I Denver & Jlio Grande , IS orthwestern , i Northern Pacific and Missouri Pacific. Choice lots sold at 15@18c. Oranges are in only moderate supply and ur ces advancing. Lemons are in liberal supply and firm. An advance is anticipated as warm weather approaches.
