Preston & Keaa , bankers , report :
The market to-day has been irregular
and dull. Government bonda are at about
tbo same figure as yesterday , with a firm
er feeling and inclination to adrance.
Municipal bonds are being urgently
sought for at rates to pay Investors 4J@
6J per cent , and these of undoubed' value
find ready market at the above rate. Lo-
. 'cal securities are active , with a demand
from small inveitors , mainly for Cook
county.and clty4 and 4i per cent bonds.
Minnesota state 4J per cent bonds are
being conatantly inquired far. Large
amounts are being taken by 'banks and
private capitalists' 101 and accrued in
terest. Wo anticipate an early advance in
the price asked. Money Is in good de
mand , but tbo supply is abundant , and
easily exchanged at par. '
Foreign exchange is firm and no change
in.rates.
