CHICAGO UONKT.
CHICAQO , April 25.
Preston , Kean k Co. , bankers , report :
The money market to day was a singular
one. Government bonds for the first time
in a month have recede 1 from the figure
of the previous day. There has been a
marked decline in 4s and 4is per cent. ,
the closing price being from l@c lower
than lost night's prices. There seems to
' be no good reason for this unexpected set
back and the presumpt'on is that the mar
ket J3belnx _ forced down in anticipatiun of
a use when the next call ia made by the
government , which must be close at hand ,
There is no disposition on the part of
holders to part with their securities at the
prices of to-day and many we'l informed
parties in Now York look for an early ad'
Yar.ca
The market has beeu quiet for all kinds
of r-ccurlties.
There is uome ca'l for railroad and local
Foielgn exchange firm at former figures
