irregular at the opening with tendency to
weakness. Trices declined \ @ \ per cent. ,
but this condition of attain did not last
long ; nn itnoroved feeling set in which con-
tinned until near the close , when the best
prices of the day were current ; there was
free buying for long account , and consid
erable covering of short which ameliorated
the rise ; the advance ranged from J to 2 }
per cent. , and was led by the Now Jtrsey
Central , Northwestern , Lkke Shore , Den-
\er & llio Grande , Michigan Central ,
Missouri Pacific and Wnuash. In the last
hour there was eomo reaction. Th'o clos
ing prices , however , wore with faw excep
tions higher than on Saturday.
