Kvent of the week in financial circles
were important chiefly for the marked
change in the temper of the speculation
on the Btock exchange. The support ac
corded by the Vauderbilt party to Lake
Shore was suddenly withdrawn at the
opening , and under sharp bear attacks
prices were steadily forced down , led by
Lake Shore which shows n decline for the
week of 8 per cent. The decline in the re
mainder of the list ranges from 1 to 15 per
cent.
Money was comparatively easy at 4@6
per cent.
Foreign exchanges were firmand higher.
Governments declined early in the week
but subsequt-ntly recovered and advanced.
