tried to induce her to rolurn to thorn.
The petitions and lemonatrivnoca of
the old couple led to a _ jcouoral row ,
which necessitated the intorfcronco of
tlio police , who escorted the entire
party to the West Madison Street Sta
tion.
Yesterday morning all were brought
before Juaticu Walsh. Mr. and Mrs.
Derocko stated their case and were
diecharged , but Pierre and Marie were
held over until to-day. Meanwhile ,
an investigation is in progreas.
Mr. Derocko claims that his daugh
ter is only sixteen yearn old , and that
the marriage license could only have
been procured by fraud or perjury ,
and inquiry at the county clerk's
otlice indicates tha4 : such is really the
case. Early on Wednesday Pierre
and Marie applied for a liet > iiso , but
were refused because Marie said she
was only seventeen years of aijo.
They wont away , but shortly after
wards returned with Justice Dollar's
clerk , who presented a note from the
justice stating that the girl wan eigh
teen years of ape. Again they wcio
refused , and again they departed.
Still later they appeared at the coun
ter for the third time. This time
they were accompanied .by Justice
J3eMars himself , who swore that the
girl w as over eighteen years old. On
his affidavit , which is on ( ilo , the
the license was issued , and the juatico
subsequently -performed the cere
mony.
Mr. Diirocko threatens to prosecute
Justice DeMars for perjury. It is
said that the justice ha * no actual
knowledge of the case , but made his
affidavit on the statement of u third
party.
The Freight [ Car of the Future.
A Troy ( N. Y. ) dispatch is the Now

cars are between 2.000 and 3,000
