Before the adjournment of the din-
triot court on Saturday night John N.
Baldwin in a very neat but ofloctivu
speech called Judge Hood's attention

iness they desired to transact before
the court which would require the
presence of Sheriff Itcol. Mr. Heel
soon entered the court room. Mr.
llaldwiu then arose and very feelingly
related the ohjuct of the bar mooting ,
and in behalf of the inomhurn present
ed Mr. Heel with a very handsome
yold-hoadcd cane , also n beautiful
meerschaum pipe in behalf of the

A sneak thief entered the private
sleeping apartment of Mr. ami Mrs
Max Molin. at the hotel kept by them
on Main street , and stole Air. Mooru'a
vest containing a silver watch with
gold chain attached , and about seven
ty-live dollars in money. AB has been
bur custom Mrs. Mohn uroso in tlio
morning leaving her husband asleep in
the room. Shu wont below to prepare -
pare there his orcakfiwt. On retiring
Air. Mohn had left his clothes on a
chair near his bed. During the ab
sence of his wife the vest WAS taken
but was not minsud until quite late in
tlio forenoon , when ho proceeded to
dress himself. Mr. Mohn found the
vest lying in the parlor adjoining with
the pockets turned out. As yet there
is no cluo. Mr Mohn states that ho
had about seventy-five lodgers in the
house that night , a very largo number
of whom were strangers.
