OFFICE OF TUB OMAHA BKE , )
Thursday Evening , December 29. f
The weather to-day braced up a little ,
and a good stiff breeze has been booming
down from the B real regions.
Business in general continues active , and
the streets and highways are becoming
worn down to a passable condition.
The country people begin to come in and
do their trading and sell their products.
Colder weather would help us out a little.
It would revive the coal trade , make a de
mand tor overshoes , enahlt ) clothiers to sell
an extra overcoat , .send more hogs to mar
ket and stimulate the packing business.
The markets are in statu quo at to prices ,
but steady and flush. There are no
changes worthy of note since yesterday ,
except in the climate.
The building boom keeps n > ht on , rain
or shine , sink or swim. Where there is so
much smoke there must be some fire.
Quite.a number of our heavy jobbing
firms are moving into more capacious
quarters and preparing to branch out with
the New Year. --3 '

It 'iu now a'V od time to purchase
dressed poultry. There is a large stock of
it on hand and it is down to bed rock.
First class butter and eggs command
first class prices. If butter makers are
sharp they will market thelr.butter before
it gets any nearer spring.
The egg crop is a partial failure so far
this winter , and since the beginning of the
holidays the hens have gone entirely out
of business. They will require considera
ble coixtng before they will resume opera
tions ,
