The report that a reward had been

Small as the item was , the starved
lows fiend was gratified to got it and
, ook out his note-book for the names ,
etc. , of the wedding party ,
"They are a young couple from
Council Bluffs , " the justice continued ,
'who either couldn't get a license
here , or thought that the Iowa style
vasn't quite good enough for them.
Wo get a good muny suspiciously
oung couplea from Iowa , but as long
ns they got a lieonno I have no reason

These pcopln who get married by jus-
ices of the peace have very

omotimcs. They strike in at all
murs of the day and night und will
icver brook delay , if they can help it.
Why , a man got mo up at 12 o'clock
Friday night and kept mo up until 5
o'clock in the morning , waiting for his
jridc. She was coming from the west
nnd didn't gut hero for the reason that
>
ho train was late. But the chnp
wouldn't turn in or lot mo do so , and
when she finally arrived in the morning
10 brought her up to the oflico on the
ump. I "hitched" them in good
ihapo and they started for llio depot
again to take the morning train east.

One of the curious things about peo-

Jicy once got stirtcd nothing will
stop them. One man went up to Bar

was knee deep , and finally sat on the
stoop for three hours until the judge

other instancn almost parullul occurred
two weeks ago. I "kicked" on htay-

BOARDING HOUSE THIEVES
They go TlironRh n Nnmbsr of
Clothes and Got 86.
The practice of boarding house
keepers to leave lower doors open at
nil hours of day and night doubtless
furnishes many advantages in the way of
convonienco. That it also offers many
temptations to sneak thieves and
marauders of bolder purpose is , how
ever , a disadvantage which recent oc
currences have made conspicuous.
On Saturday night two men entered
a house occupied by Win. 13. Eees ,
and made a detour of the rooms. AH
of the available articles of clothing
they.could find were taken down staits
and carefully searched for money cr
stray valuables. From ono pair of
pants they extracted about § 0 in coin ,
but found nothing ohie. None of the
wearing apparel was taken away from
the homo , and it ia probable that the
thieves expected some particular haul ,
which they missed Latch keys for
boarding houses and a biz bull dog
are about the only protection from
such marauders.
Satisfactory.
