The Lutheran church held their
services both morning and evoninir in
Hoyd'a opera house. Tho1 attendance
at both services was very largo , prob
ably exceeding that at any other place
of worship , l ov. Dr. Skollinfr , the
new pastor , preached most impressive
md interesting sermons. If the new
opera house is a beautiful and bvillianl

amusements , it is no lowt attractive as
a place of worship , and the magnili-

Jacobs' cst&blislunont where they
wcro identified by Mr. Peter Gooa as
thoio of a man who had becnboacding
at his house. J3eyond this no further
clue to the man's' identity was ob
tained at this time.
Subsequently a BEE reporter visited
Mr GOOB at his hotel and learned
from him that about Sept. 24ih , two
men , ivho registered as G. F. lloo and
B. Kelley , came to his house together
and paid their board for a week in
advance. They were painters and
partners , aud remained with him until
some time last week. One of these
men wcro despondent , and would go
out and got full of , liquor occasionally.
On Friday ho said to one of the
boarders that ho had a notion to o
and drown himself , but no attention
wan paid to the threat. Ho had not
been at the Hotel do Gees for two or
three days , and yesterday his partner
came over to inquire for him and wus
told that ho had madn such
threat. Since that time neither of the
men had been aeon. Mr. Gees is con
fident that the suicide , tor such it ap
pears to have been , was o"'jof these
men , as the description 4 s exactly
with the appearance of' ' J6 of them.
Which IB which ho can't say , nor can
the discrepancy in the memoranda
and ho hotel register be explained.
The missing partner is the only ono
who can explain the mystery of the
suicide's identity. It was apparently ,
however , the freak of a crazy man.
