General trade throughout the cily the pist week has been exceptionally good , all classes of business sharing in tlio general prosperity. The demand for dry goods has especially bceu large , and jobbers foi the most part , have been unable tok < ep up with their orders one of the best evi dences that Omaha is not only holding hci own , but is rapidly extending her trade throughout the great and growing west. Values , as a rule , were B tend- ) , with a ten dency to firmness in s ime classes oi < foods. No actual changes in pi ices , however , have occurred. Groceries , both staple and fancy inct a very generous demand throughout the en tire week. Coffees , teas , sugars and spices unchanged. Syruus firm and ad vanced 5@10c. We note an advance of'Ic for pearl starch. Dried fruits underwent some changes , but arc not very materially different from lost week's quotations. Cliecsa advanced 2J@-lc. Deans declined 30 j per bushel. Soaps firm and advanced all around 30@50c. Candles linn and ad' vancing. Canned goods otill strong and advanCing , some brands being materially higher than a week ago. Rico advanced. Peanuts higher than last week. Drugs and chemicals enjoyed a brink do maud. The only changes noted during the week being a decline of oc for chloro form and Balsam Copabia. Hardwares-Iron nnd collateral goods continue to sell freely , the only change noted during tlio week is an advance of SOc on iron r.ites. ' Leather and loathci ; goods moving freely at steady price * . Hide ) are in fair demand and un changed. Wool ii in light receipt and there In nothing now to report in connection with the trade. During the progress of the state fair , country produce dealers wore taxed to their utmost to supply the demands made upon them for butter and eggs , and as a V result there WAS a , sharp advance in prices. Hut now that our visitors have left foi their homes , there has been a sudden fall , ing off in the demand which naturally enough caused prices to fall back into the - ld notch of ten days ago. All kinds of fruits and vegetables are in continued good demand at steady prices , in foreit-n f rules we note a decline of CO cents per hex for oranges. There is little that can bo said in con nection with the live stock market. Roth- ing whatever Is doing in cattle , and juice ure nominally unchanged.
