throughout and without important fea *
turcs. Ihe close however was fmne and
prices goncMllv showed fractional advance
over yesterday's closing , Boston Air Line
preferred was cxceptionallv rong and
closed 2j per cent , higher. Oregon Navi
gation and Memphis nm Chtulcstnn were
all weaker and closed decidedly lower.

Wholesale men in all branches of bus

week. In lixc stock nothing of npeci.il in.
tcrest was reported ; not much doing and
prices nominally the same as lost week ,
Butcher's steer , have been in good demand
and trade lively. The grain market has
\ been firm , wheat and barley at times being
somewhat unsettled. Wheat closes Ic high
er for No. 2 , and 2c higher for No. 3 tlmn
last Saturday's quotations. Corn has also
advanced Ic. Barley declined 12o during
the week. llye is also 2c lower
than at the clo'e of last week. Oats
ha reached 31c during the wei-k , but
closes to-day at 29c , being the samu aa last
Saturday' * prices. The provision market
has ruled firm. Old potatoes have ad
vanced 15 cents. New potatoes have
brought from 1 23 to 1 50 per bushel dur
ing the week , but advanced to-day to 2 23
closing firm at that price. Butter anil \
eggs close this week at n xlight advance on
last weckV prices. Lemons haveadvancoi
for best 2 00 per case. Vi'o note an ad
vance of 3c on fir.st-cla n honey. Other
grades not quotable. In hides , trade very
lively. I'urs bcaicej no change in prices ,
In the drug market ue note a decline of
lOc on quinine. Morphine is ? lso quoted
at a lower price than last week. Paints
and oils firm the only change of import
ance being in turpentine , which declined
lOc during the week.
The wholesale grocers i eport very largi
trade ; market firm , the only change in
prices during the week being a decline of
Jc on all grades of sugar.
Lumber , liquor , leather , dry goods , hard ,
ware and other market * about the name ai
last week. All report good Dusine.ss.
At the banks business bat been very
lively during the week. There has been a
great movement of currency to the country
.banks , more than last week , and still an
increasing demand for money. The rat
of exchange is 82 00 i or 31,000. No local
bondu are governed by prices elsewhere.
