A general comparison of sales with those of last year at a corresponding noriod indi cates a general increase along the lino. Country trade is reported asteady and increasing , and orders generally average higher than last year's early summer xales. The cattle and live stock market shows a slight improvement. Little is do ing however outside of the demand for local slaughtering , and no changes in pri- cc is noted. The grain market was active with slight Advances in barley and corn. No. 3 wheat declined Ac , and No. - and rye Iho same. Barley was unsettled and advanced Oc for caih No. 5 ! , and 'Jc for No. 3. Corn is quoted lit 'ie higher. The provision market was firm , wilhgood demand for all primes. Spring when I fi ur was in active demand nnd advanced . c to 20c pur hundred. Winter wheat Hour was steady , with sales at slight ad vance over yesterday's quotations. Farm ers' produce was in jjooi demand , wore firm at last advices. Butter was in aclive demand for a "triclly first-class arti cle.
