SANTA CL.AUS FOUND.
Greatest Discovery of the Age.
Woniibrful discoveries in thtworld hare been made
Among other things where Puita C'&ns elJl
Children oft aek If ho malrefl coodi ct not ,
If really be lives in a mount&tti of snow.
Lxat year an cxmir ! ci ) sailed clear to the Pole
And suddenly dropped Into what cccmedl&S thole
Where fcondpr of wonders trn > yWiibdanewland ,
* hile falrj'-Hki beings cMxarod on each hand.
There ircn mountains like ouriwith more
V i'illful preen ,
And far lirijh'xr skies than cvsr were seen ,
liirds with the hues of a rainbow T-cre found ,
While flowers of cxquitito fragrance were grow
ins : aronnd.
Not lomr KTro ! they left to wond-t la doubi
bcluc goon cmo the J ! ia < l heard much about ,
TWKJ Santa CluttS' self and th lethey all Ray ,
? e looked like the picture r csce every day.
* drove up a team that looked Vtrtqueer ,
'Twos a team * f crsssrtopr.Brs instead of reindeer ,
He rode in a shpU instead of a plciili ,
He showed them all over hli wonderful realm ,
And factories making poovla for women and men
Furriers were wcttfinc OH hats ( Treat and small ,
To Dunce's tlicv Said they ncro sending them U.
Krii Kiaglc , the Olo\c JJ l.ertold thorn at once ,
AH our Gloves we are sending to Bunco ,
Santa showed them auspendors and many things
more.
Saving I rdo tooV tTiero to friend Bance'i eton.
Santa Claus tlicn whispered a secret he'd tell.
As in Omahn e\T > ry one knew Bunco well ,
lie therefore should send his poods to his can ,
Knowing lib friends will ( ret tholr full share.
Now remember ye dwellers In Omaha town ,
All who want presents to Rnnce'g go round ,
For shirts , collars , or cloves great and small ,
Send VOOT sister or aunt one atul all.

How He LobbiedaBogus Claim

Pretenses.
Five years ago this summer E. K
Yalentino who hsd beou removed by
U. S Grant from the Weal Point 'and '
office for crookedness , packed the rs
publican convention of the sixth in-
dicial diatr. t and secured forhimf ]
the noinin.vti n of district judge. V l
entino was a mere ehjsttr , having no
belter standing at the bar than the
redoubtable quick Muiuey had nraon
the member * of the medicsl profession.
When the returns were cmvasjed by
the atato officers who constitute tbt-
ntato board of canvassers , 'he board
awarded the certificate of election to
Thomas L. Grifley , thu democratic c-ui-
didnte. Valentine procured a batch
of affidavits to show that there had
been some irregularity in the count.
Ho then secured the eervicea of John
0. Cowin , who agreed and stipulated
in advance that he would
prosecute his claims before
the courts without charge.
> Tlio ease was brought to trial before
the supreme court in JSoremner 187G ,
alid the coutt rendered the aotnewhrst
extraordinary decision that E. K. Val
eutine had been elected judge of-tho
sixth judicial district by a imjorilyof
two voles and a half. Valentine soon
hereafter took his seat on the bench
and draw his pay regularly from the
state treasury at the rate of 2503 a
year during the entire time he served
as judge. In ho summer of
1878 , E. K. Valentino was
foisted on the people of Nebraska
py the political managers of Jay
Gould for their representative in con *
gross. Within sixty days after his
election to congress Valentine put in
Reappearance at Lincoln ao .1 lobbyist
before the legislature , and by bring
ing all his pressure to bear upon re
publican members who had axes to
grind , and roping in the democratic
friends cf Griffey , Valentine succeed
ed in pulling through tne following
bill :

1870.This
This infamous steal was put through k
the legislature by Valentino undir
the protcnso that ho needed the $1875
top y attorney's fees and expanses in
curred in securing his title to a seat on
the bench ; whereas , as a matter of
fact , Valentine did not pay a single
dime to his attorney , John 0. Co rin ,
and never even tendered him his ex-
peneea for hotel bill and faro to Lin
coln.
coln.Now
Now , what do the tax-payers of Ne-
braVka think of this salary grabber.
"Will they endorse this man Valentino
who has drawn § 1875 from tha state
treasury for services which were ren
dered by Judgg Griffey and for which
Griffey had drawn pay. Oan any
