) NEW YOKK , July 31.
No other day since the revival of
the Bcecher scandal
has been so
eventful as yesterday. Every point
connected with the affair has been
so thoroughly discusspd that it seems
there is little more to be said. The
meeting of the committee thought
to be of slight importance , though
three witnesses were examined.
Some little disappointment is ex

Moulton were present. Moiilton is
still at Narragansett and Storrs at
Princeton. Letters have been sent
to Frank Carpenter and others , aslc
ing them to appear and tell what
they know.
Betcher remained home during
the day , seeing a few vlsitors. Til-
ton was left more to himself than
during any day previous , and de
voted himself to needed rest. Tilton's
counsel Morris had along interview
with the district attorney yesterday
regarding Gaynor's case. Both
share the opinion that though Gay-
nor had a technical right to institute
proceedings against Tilton , in prac
tice he would have no standing
in court. Morris has been for a
long time in the controversy of Til-
ion against Beecher , and has im-
plidt faith , in Tilton's cause. He
says that lie knew for a year past
that the facts must corae out and ,
3ossible as they are , must now bo
stablished. Tilton , when be called
it Ovington's house

vished to treatMrs. Tilton magnan-
mously , and said that whatever
he wanted from the Livingston
treet house she could have.
Mrs. Tilton , being informed of
his , made out a list of m
necessary ar-

iiings , but when the mpssenger d :
resented the order Tilton exclaim- erin
