New York, April 25 The Herald's Washington special says: Senator Sargent had the vote reconsidered, by which the House bill providing for free coinage of gold was indefinitely postponed and the bill placed on the calendar. It h. expected that the bill will pass without opposition when all rea sons are presented. It is claimed that it is necessary, in the present condition for the United States to place it upon terms of equality with Great Britain, where gold is and has been for two hun dred years coined without charge. A large amount of bullion is an nually exported, which, under the operations of the pending bill, would be coined in this country, and the inijwrtation of foreign coin and bullion will thereby be encouraged. The passage of this bill will be re turned to the practice of the Gov ernment prior to 1853, and will have a strong influence in preparing the way for specie payment.
