ditional troops will be sent and prob
ably volunteers will be authorized
among tho frontiersmen.

ing: "The Receiurof tho Atlantic
Hank yesterday completed tho list of
depositors and amounts to their
credit, but refused to give n copy to
tho Tribune reporter. An cxamiua
tion was also mado by him of tho
special loan account, and somo singu
lar illustrations were brought to light,
showing tho loose manner in which
tho all'.iirs of tho bauk wero conduct
ed by tho defaulting cashier.
These wero of such n character as to
indicate not only criminality on
thu part of Tainter, but suggested
to somo of tho depositors, who learned
tho facts that Tuintcr had confeder
ates as desperate as himself. Tho
special loan account shows that over
i:t40,000 havo been loaned on securi
ties, all of which havo disappeared.
Of this amount L. JI. Nile, No. 8
Broad street, one of Taiuter's brok
ers, aud us tur us known, his only
broker, had received $90,000 ; and J.
II. Conover, a clerk of "Nilcs. who is
said to rcccivo only a small salary,
named by somo persons as low as $8
a week, had borrowed $35,000. Near
ly all thce loans had been mado to
Nilcs and Conover within tho last
thrco months. Only one loan of
$10,000 is entered its having been
made provious to 1873, and this
was as late as November, 1872. All
tho bCcuritie.s.dcposited by Nilcs and
Conover arc among thoso said to havo
been stolen. The books of tho bank
show that tho concern was indebted
to Nilcs to thu amount of $50,000,
represented to havo been deposited by
him, but Niles yesterday apj)cared be
fore Receiver Strong, and being nsked
tho amount of his claim against tho
bank said it was between $200 and
$800 only. This extraordinary dis
crepancy continued to puzzlo tho lie
coivcr and accountants until tho
closo of tho examination last night.
Tne Receiver has caused inquiry to
bo mndo into tho standing mid credit
of all Taiuter's alleged brokers, and
tho mercantile agoncics' reports ren
der still moro suspicious their largo
operations for tho account of the
young defaulter. Further inquiry
into tho accounts revealed that, with
in twenty-four hours of tho collapse,
ono of tho Directors had overdrawn
the account of his firm to tho amount
of $0,000.
