The University is the head of the public educational sys
tem of the State. It aims to continue and complete the work
begun in the public schools, and secure to all an opportunity
of liberal culture in literature and science, and in such tech
nical and professional com scs as shall from time to tunc be
added. These advantages aie ofl'crcd to a free of charge for
tuition, without regard to sex or race, or place of resilience,
on the sole condition of possessing the intellectual and moral
qualifications lcquisitc for admission to such an institution.
THE LATIN SCHOOL.

In this school picparation is afforded for all the Undcigrad

tiik Arts, and also for those in the UMvr.usrrv.
The piepaiatory studies; run through luoyeais. Applicants
loi admission to the Hist Year will be examined on the fol
lowing subjects Lnghsh Grammar Arithmetic, Geography,
and History of the tinted States. Graduates of high schools
accredited for the Minor Cuui.se (now including Aurora,
Columbus, Faiimont, Friend, Gibbon, Harvard, Hebron,
McCook, North Loup, Old, Red Cloud, Sutton, Tcctimseh,
Holdredgc aim Wilber) arc admitted to ihe Second Year class
on presentation of diplomas.
THE COLLEGES.
Tim UNivnisriv consists of two colleges, or undergradu
ate dcpailments. Graduates of the Latin .school, or of the
high schools accredited for the major couise (including now
Alma, Ashl.'.ml, Auburn, lieatrice, Edgar, Ficinont, Giand
Island, Keainey, Lincoln, Nebraska City, 1'lattsinouth and
Ulysses) aie admitted into the Iwcsluunu class ol either col
lege on piescntation of diplomas.
Students in both colleges attend classes in common, as far
as possible, and have every advantage afl'oided by contact
with those studying in other departments and the instruction
of trained and experienced University piolessois.

THE INDUSTRIAL COLLEGE.

IJachcloi of Science, offeis a liberal education, in which the
Modern Sciences and the Modern Languages arc given most

ing to the same degiee, afford a training in special lines lead
ing to Agricultural, Electrical or Scientific work.
The course in Civil Enoinkkkinc. offers such training as
will fit a young man for the practice ol Civil Engineering.
For those u ho can spend but a year or two in study, an
Elementary course in Agiicullure has been arranged.
Students in the Industiia! College may obtain remunerative
employment at rates ranging from 15 to 25 cents per hour,
depending upon the quality of work.
