H r ? it 1 !i .1 boon engaged in -the Normal schools of Pennsylvania for the past thirteen years, nnd when elected principal of our school was Deputy State Superintendent of Penn sylvania. The Model School gave an entertain nicnt the evening of the Mth, which was. n grand success, and did much credit both to the school and its teacher, Miss Dow. den. Albert Joyce, of the Student, has been with us the past week, visiting the school, and Iookiug up the interests of Jus paper. We found Mr. J. a fine young man, and we would re-Joyce to have him call again. The 3d year class visited the Brownville High School last week and were much pleased with the interest manifested in the school. Mrs. Holtz and Misses AUie Hilt and Lou Tucker, from the Normal, urc teaching there. The students of the Normal presented Prof. Thompson with two line presents in the way of statuary. One represented Rip Van "Winkle on the mountain, the other his return home after his long re pose of twenty years. Prof. W. E. "Wilson gave iw a lecture re cently upon his travels in France and Switzerland. His lecture was very in teresting and instructive. Professor has been travelling in Europe during the past year, and is now teaching in Palmyra. At a recent lectur.e delivered by Dr. Con. verse to our school, upon the subject, "The Development of the Mind," the Dr. used two apples, grown from the same tree, to illustrate his subject. One was a fine, large apple, the other of the nerly order. After the lecture, the large apple was of fered to the student giving the best repro duction of the lecture, the nerly one to the second best. Prof. Autrlicy has a very interesting class in political economy. We received a very pleasant call from ProH W. E. Wilson, of Palmyra, during vacation. We have clothed the Student in n new cover, which, we think, will help its appearance. Subscribers should be particular to notify the Husiucss Manager of an change of address. A number of students were aspirants for the several ofllces of the legislature. We condole with the defeated ones. Students would do well to go to Rob. inson's for groceries. West side public square. tf We should judge by the activity of their mouths that the ladies' gum associa tion had a large supply ol the article on hand. A number of the students have taken as much interest, seemingly, in the Sena torial contest as the candidates them selves. It is too cold now for tha laddies and lassies to meander in the cupola, so they occupy the time in sliding down the ban. nisters.
