Our baseball team has defeated Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri, and will take another scalp on June 1st, when It meets Minnesota on the diamond. -The enthusiasm manifested at the election of the athletic board last Wednesday points out most emphatic ally that interes: in athletics is In--feastogi-Ksit-ycatfiliauJd M-a banner year in our history, and the new board will do a great deal toward making it such. Three members of the board have played on the 'varsity eleven, three on tho first basket ball team, and one is a member of the first baseball nine. In addition to this, they have all shown themselves to be good business men. The result of the Missouri debate was gratifying to our "honorable op ponents." Nebraska is now in a posi tion to say with Aguinaldo, "We have met the enemy and we are his'n." It - seems probable that tho result was In a large measure due to the unfortu nate disruption in our ranks caused by the withdrawal of one of the speak ers at the last moment. While it is not our place to question the gentle man's motive for the action which he took, it seems to us that the malter might have been arranged in some way so as to prevent the weakening of our forces almost at the beginning of the contest. Nothing but highest praise can be accorded to the man who was obliged to fill the vacant place on the debating team with Hcarcely any time to make suitable preparation. He has In him the elements of a strong debater and if he had had sufficient time in which to prepare the decision might not have gone against us. ANNOUNCEMENTS There will be a short but important meeting of the senior class Thursday at 1:20 in tho old chapel. Every student must hand in his credit book to the Registrar at once.
