The Nebraskan-Hesperian v The second basket ball team will play the Lincoln high school team in the gym on Thursday night. A. J. Stratton, ex:'00, passed through .Lincoln enrouto for Eckley, Colo., last week. Ho spent Saturday and Satur day and Sunday at tho Sigma Chi house. The legislature of Wisconsin has re fused to pass what is known as the -fraternity bill." This bill would have .given fraternities building sites or the cam us. Miss Henderson, general secretary of tho Y.'W. C. A., has been called-to' her home in Tola, Kan., on account of the serious illness of her mother. She will probably return after the Easter vacation. Tho college settlement board is at tempting to secure a location for Gra ham Taylor house near 2uih and N .streets. Very littlo work has been done of late but when the new location is secured tho regular classes and other "work will bo resumed. Tho Y. W. C. A. has made arrange ments for a series of weekly meetings to be led by instructors in the uni versity and pastors in the city. Prac tical subjects will be taken up. The first meeting of the scries will be held in the old chapel on Wednesday. Ernest Seton-Thompson, the lecturer on natural history, will give a lecture Aprh 6th in the Oliver theater, under the auspices of the Y. M. C. A- Besides being a popular scientific lecturer, Mr. Seton-Thompson has contributed many stories on animals to tho literature of the day At their last meeting the Union society elected tho following officers: Miss Blanch'o Mickey, president; Mr. John Swenson, vice-president; Mr. Ed wlnj Robertson, recording secretary; Mr. Jno. McGuire, corresrkmdlng secre tary; Mr. J. A. Duff, treasurer; Mr. Thomas, critic, and Mr. Hawksby, ex officio sergeant-at-arms. Tho Palladian Literary society held their election of officers Tuesday, March 19, 1901. The result was as follows: President, O. A. "Elliot; -vice-president, Miss Phelps; treasurer, C. C. Telleson; secretary, C. A- Pearson; sergeant-at-arms, Miss Bessie Butler; critic, Edward Rwe; historian. Miss Zinger. DEBATE POSTPONED. At a meeting of the debating asso ciation held last week it was decided that the debate with Leland Stanford this year is not practicable, and that it should be postponed until next semester.
