Miss Kdna Howell, '03, who was acci dentally shot in the knee about a month ago while target shooting at ' Burlington Beach, has so far recovered that she has been able to be removed ' from St. Elizabeth's hospital to her sistei's home on R street. Her mother from Kansas City is still w.th her. The base ball men took advantage of the absence of gymnasium classes last week and spent several hours each day in the cage. The p.tchers are kept busy limbering up their arms and the other men are given preliminary work on grounders. Doane, Bell, Gordan and Bliss are in practice for the box and are doing good work. Koehler, the foot ball center, Ray Ryan, Dean Ringer and Maloney are candidates for catcher. Over forty men have report ed for various positions. The state veterinarians' association held sessions in the chapel Tuesday afternoon and evening. Only aboui twenty-five were present. President Dr. S. E. Cosford gave an address in the afternoon, in which he gave valuable suggestions to the assoc.ation. In the evening papers were delivered by Dr. Ward, Dr. W. A. Thomas of this city and Dr. J. J. Drasky of Ciete on 'Treat ing Tumors and Growths by Electric ity." Another session was held at the university farm Wednesday morning. Penny, dean of the school of fine artrof Kansas univer sity, sailed from Boston on February 1 on a combined lecture, study and pleasure trip abroad. He has been en gaged by the managers of a nine weeks' cruise to the Mediterranean and the Orient to deliver a series of s ereoptl con lectures en route on Greek and Roman architecture. He will also act as one of the three directors of the tour, and as such Will have charge of the Egyptian section. The cruiso will be made by a party of four hundred eastern tourists, chiefly New York and Massachusetts educators. Tho itiner ary includes the principal points of In terest In Egypt.
