Professor Nicholson, who has been granted a year's leave of absence from the university, spent last Thursday and Friday with University friends. He has been sojourning in Colorado and Avas on his way east, where he ex pects to spend some time. G. G. Hedgcock and A. A. Hunter presented an article on the "Red Sea Weed" in the December number of the Botanical Gazette. This plant was discovered about a year ago in Rock creek, a few miles northeast of Lin coln. A plate, drawn by Miss Edna Hyatt, illustrated the article. Dr. J. L. Goodknight of Covington, O., visited the university January 13. Dr. Goodknight was formerly the pres ident of the University of West Vir ginia and was the originator of the all year plun for that institution. ATHLETIC BOARD MEETING. A meeting of the athletic board was held Monday evening, Juuuary 15. "W. E. Andreson was elected captain of the basket ball team and R. W. BUbs was elected captain of the base ball team unless M. S. Moore, the regular elected captain returns. R. D. AndreBon was chosen captain of the track team.
