President Henry Wade Rogers of Northwestern is not satisfied with the morals of tho fraternity raon In that university and has outlined six ways In which ho wants tho fraternity sys tem Improved to the representatives of each chapter who wero called to his office last night. Ho wants smoking on tho street abolished, a general im provement of tho conduct in tho fra ternity houses, an enforcement of tho social regulations and tho discontin uance of pledging academy students. He also asked the fraternities to con sider having a resident alumnus to act for each chapter in Its relations with the university and to postpone Initia tions until after the iirst semester. Representatives wero present from all but one of the fraternities of tho institution and reported the requests of the president to their respective chapters. Prom stories that have gono the rounds in Evanston for some time the students supposed the meeting was called to Investigate gambling in tho fraternity houses. President Rogers did not mention tho subject. He said that members of the faculty had passed a certain chapter house on Sun day morning at church time and had heard and seen things that should not be, and warned the residents against a repetition. He said that one frater nity had broken the rule allowing each organization to give but one party a year, and unless that fraternity made apology Its charter would be revoked and the chapter forced to disband by the university. The request for a sponsor for each fraternity was only a suggestion, but was looked upon favorably at the vari ous meetings last night. Beta Theta Pi and Phi Kappa Psi have had alumni acting for them for several years, and the result has been satisfactory to both faculty and students. President Rogers will call another meeting as soon as the subjects have been dis cussed and the fraternities are pre pared to Instruct their representatives how to act. GRADUATE CLUB.
