Stngg of tho University of Chicago is in tho cast in search of Imso hall and track dates. Ho has al ready had considerable correspond once with tho managers of a numbor of eastern teams, but has mado no contracts. He will try to arrange dates with Yalo, Harvard, Pennsyl vania, Princeton, Cornell, Brown and one or two other teams. Ya!o and Pennsylvania have already asked for games with the Maroons. After watch ing his candidates for a few days Stagg concluded that he was going to have one of tho best base ball teams in the history of tho university, nnd wont ut once in search of big game. He will l.kcly arrange for entering a relay team in the Pennsylvania games in tho spring, and may have somo eastern track kam come west. He also wants to have a series of base ball games on Marshall field with an eastern nine. NEW EXTENSION CLASSES. Plans are now being made to organ ize extens'on classes at tho beginning of the second semester in the depart ment of domestic science. In accord ance with the plan adopted by the board of regents at their last meeting persons may be admitted to these classes on the recommendation of such organizations as desire to co-operate with the university in this work. Per sons thus recommended are not re quired to pay the ?5 matriculation fee at the university, but will bo charged a fee of ?3 to pay for food materials used. Three courses of twelve lessons each will be offered. The work will be given on Thursday, Friday and Satur day afternoons. ENGLISH CLUB MEETING. The English club met last Saturday night at the home of M!ss Quaintance, 515 North Thirteenth street. Three papers Avere read, respectively by Misses Fox and Wilson and G. V. Cor telyou. A feature of the later part of the evening was a literary game which showed considerable ability on the part of some -of the members. Miss Wilson was most successful, however, in locating the quotations given. Con undrums, at wh.ch some bit quite cheerfully, became another pleasing di version.
