The debating association mot In tho chapel Friday at 1:30 o'clock as an nounced. Though there was not a largo attendance, much enthusiasm was manifested. It was clearly the pre vailing sontiment that some changes must bo mado in order to hold two in-ter-stato debates here this year and still maintain tho financial standing of the association. Tho secretary was in structed not to register old mombera who refuse to pay tho assessment made at tho end of last year. President Craft announced that tho association had repaid E. P. Warner all tho funds advanced by him last year. Tho asso ciation is out of debt, with tho excep tion of two loans made by individuals, amounting to ?8. The association re solved itself into a commltteo of the whole to devise means for conducting the preliminaries this year. This com mittee recommended that a foo of ?1 bo charged each contestant in the pre liminaries; that but one preliminary be held this year; that onu set of judges act for al! the sections in these contests; that the debaters in the pre liminaries bo divided into threo sec tions, tho whole series of debates to oc cupy threo hundred minutes for the threo sections, the time to bo divided proportionately among tho debaters. The rules were suspended and the report adopted. A motion carried which instructed the secretary not to canvass for Yogis tratlon. A notice is to be posted im mediately announcing that registration is open- and It will remain open until 6 o'clock in the evening of Novem ber 10.
