Tlio uaunl Hnllowccn feallvltlos wore
observed In Union hall Inst Friday
night. The hall was appropriately dec
orated with jock-o'lanterns and was
changed from an ordinary literary hall
Into a parlor. A jolly crowd of Unions
and a few Invited friends woro present
to enjoy tho ovoning, which was spent
at games, charades and music. Ghost
stories woro told whilo apples and pop
corn halls woro served. Those present
were: Misses Ward, Ulandln, King,
Holman, Smith, Ulandln, Choppell,
McOuno, Thompson, Livesay, Hrown,
Sparks, Abbott and Wolgamot; Mos
dames Wilson, Abbott and Sparks;

company of young people Thursday
evening in tho reception rooms of the
university school of music. Dancing
was enjoyed for a time and after thnt
cards, at which Miss Hays and Mr.
Sawyer won prizes. Light refreshments
were served. Tho guests woro Misses
Hays, Edmiston, Outcalt, Sarback, Ad
elloyd, Whiting, Jenkins, Margaret
Whedon; Messrs. Sawyer, Kimball,
Hays, Tukoy, Edmiston, Hill, Kenney,
Swart?, and Orlo Brown.
Saturday evening the Beta Theta Pi
fraternity gave a dancing party. Tho
rooms were tastefully decorated, palms
and roses adding to tho otherwise joy
ful appearance of the rooms. A few
card tables, where fortune tellers read
the future to the nimwement and grat
ification of all, were generally sur
rounded. The dancers kept time to
Walt's music until the sudden arrival
of Sunday caused them reluctantly to
disperse. Those present were: Mr. and

Zota province of Phi Delta Theta fra
ternity will hold a three days' conven
tion in this city on November 16, 17
and 18. Representatives will be pres
ent from Illinois, Iowa. Minnesota,
Wisconsin, Missouri, Kansas and Ne
braska. Besides the business meetings
a series of social affairs are being
planned by the local chapter, among
them a dance at the Lincoln on No
vember 17 and a banquet with which to
close tho session. Preparations arc
being made for about seventy-five mem
bers, including those in this city.
Letters from W. L. Westerman, an
alumnus of the state university, stain
that he has left Wiesbaden and will
now settle down in Berlin to propare
for a degree in the classics. While in
Lucerne, Switzerland, recently Mr.
Westerman met Mrs. James II. Can
field and Miss Dorothy, who were on
their way to Italy.

students now attending tho univer
sity. The ovoning was spont in tolling
oxperiences at "Gates" and talking
over old times. Refreshments woro
served and at a late hour tho crowd
dispersed after giving the yell of Gates
college.
S. W. Miller entertained the univer
sity students who are from Schuyler
last Saturday evening at 1229 S street.
The Delta Gamma fraternity hold In
itlation October 21 at their fraternity
nouso on Sixteenth and H streets.-
rnoso initiated were Misses Honeywell,
Hamilton, Daniels and Kenney and
Mrs. Fisher.
PALLADIAN NOTES.
The Pnlludwins held an important
business meeting last Tuesday for the
purpos.oof revising their constitution.
An amendment wns passed relating to
admission of new members.
Edgar Banghart, a Palladiun alum
nus, attended society to hear the war
program.
On Tuesday evening tho Palladlans
have their annual Halloween party. It
is to bo at the homo of Miss Grace
Cook, in East Lincoln.
Palladia!! hall was crowded to its ut
most last Friday evening to hear the
war program., visitors woro present
from fraternities and other societies.
The program was given In two parts,
the first consisting of stories and
sketches of army life and tho second
presenting bugle calls nnd typical pan
tomimes. Sergeant Ovorturf gave a graphic de
scription of the scenery about Chatta
nooga. Sergeant Tellesen told of the
marches and fights over rice fields and
swamps wiiiio tnoy were cnnsing
Aguinaldo. Mr. Marsh in "snap shots"
gave several vivid sketches of soldier
life, showing sonio of the inner side of
true soldier life. Sergeant Hunting
entertained the audience with a fas
cinating and touching tale of Luzon.
Mr. Goodwill concluded the 'first part
of the prpgr3" Vth some incidents of
tho Red Cros, yision of Chlckn
mnuga. In the second part of the program
some real scoik-s from cami) life were
enacted. As the boys wore regulation
uniforms and had their full accoutre
ments the effect was realistic. As
each bugle call was given tney pro
ceeded to execute Its command. The
most amusing, perhaps, of these was
the bid; call and the line-up for medicine.
