Woodruff, one of the boys who wore the blue last year, In a very Interesting talk on his experiences In Cuba. A very pretty vocal solo was ' rendered by Madge Wiggins. Charles Root gave a highly appreciated recitation. The final number was a piano' solo, "The Scarlet and Cream March," played with exquisite expression by Mr. Morgan. STATE HISTORICAL SOCIETY. The necessary information for com pleting the card catalogue of the news papers of the state Is now coming in rapidly. The Intention is to have the record of every newspaper of the state that is now in existence or has existed from the year 1854 down to the present time. Librarian Barrett humorously calls the list of defunct newspapers his "newspaper cemetery." When a news paper departs this life he will see that it receives proper interment. Editor J. H. Dundas of the Auburn Granger has donated to the society files of his paper reaching back to 1873. A package of books was received last week from the Grosvenor library, Buf falo. This exchange of books between the different libraries was made possi ble by the law of 1893, which stipu lated that fifty copies of everything printed by the state could be reserved for exchange with other libraries. R. H. Woesel has placed in the First Nebraska Philippine collection some interesting trophies of the war. He brought In a priest's robe, a Philippine comb, part of a deck of Spanish, play ing cards, a Spanish dagger, a pamph let written in the Tagal language, a document dated 1890 and signed by Weyler, and other state papers. NOT A SURPRISE. It will not be a surprise to any who are at all familiar with the good qual ities of Chamberlain's Cough Remedy to know that people everywhere take pleasure in relating their experience in the use of that splendid medicine, and in telling of the benefit they have received from it, of bad colds it has cured, of threatened attacks of pneu monia it has averted, and of the chil dren H has saved from attacks of croup and whooping cough. It is a grand, good medicine. For sale by druggists. THE "H. A. A." ABOLISHED. At a recent meeting of the Harvard athletic association all the officers handed in their resignations and the old organization was abolished. The old system of "steward" management had been found so cumbersome that it was thought best to do away with it, and the "H. A. A." is now a thing of the past, at least in so far as any con trol of the track team by members through an executive committee is concerned. Henceforth the team will be managed In the same manner as the other 'varsity teams, the captains will be elected by the members of the team as heretofore, and the managers and assistant managers will probably be virtually selected by the captains with the approval of the athletic committee. Season tickets will bo Issued which will admit to all the meets. Including that with Yale. We Have the Pennant at The Co-Op. Examine our fine 11. of N. This Is a feature of college dormitories which Is new at Harvard, but which has for some time been prominent at Oxford and Cambridge in England. The primary idea of the "common room" Is to furnish a place where the occupants of divinity hall may gather for social purposes. The rooms are furnished with taste and several paint ings will soon be placed upon the walls. A large number of newspapers and periodicals will also aid In making this a popular resort for the divinity students. , The "common room" was fitted up through funds given to the faculty by Rev. John W. Qulnby, who graduated from the divinity school in 1871. A tablet will be put up to his memory. The rooms were formally opened last Wednesday evening with a reception to the members of the school. RECENT GIFT TO THE LIBRARY.
