At a recent meeting of Jthe Athletic board it was decided
that junioi'8 and seniors of the law school should be permitted
equal privileges with regular classified students in all athletic
contests.
In the annual outdoor pentathlon which occurs April 28, the
five following events will take the place of regular preliminaries
for the Kansas meet on May 6: one mile run, pole vault,
hammer throw, running high jump.
The Armstrong cup to be contested for by the differen
classes of the University is now in possession of Mr. P.
O'Mahony and together with other medals will be on exhibition
in one of the show windows of Horpolshoimor and Oo.
A meeting of the track men took place in the gymnasium
last Tuesday evening. Dr. Hastings gave a short, but inter
esting talk on training and among other things he said: "The
two main objects in training is to secure endurance and skill
and that these are very closely connected is shown ,by the fact
that skill lies in conservation of energy. Every man who
makes a good showing in any event 'is trained' either in the
gymnasium, on the farm or in the shop." Arrangements and
dates for the coming events wore decided upon and a motion
was carried to lay a tax of 50 cents on every man in the special
training classes for the purpose of getting the track fixed up.
Miss Eckel of St. Joseph is the guest of Miss Douglas.
Ed Henry is aboutjigain. He has been sick lately.
E. D. Banghart came to Lincoln Thursday to attend
Macbeth.
The Dolian boys will have charge of the society program
this evening.
Dr. Peterson's class in the Goethe course ) has begun the
study of Faust.
A committeeman's conference will bo held in'the Y. M. 0. A.
rooms, Saturday at 4 p. m.
The Union-Doano debate has been postponed because of the
Delian boys' program, Friday night.
0. A Van Scoy, law, '00, is a very busy man these days at
Logan, la. He is serving as deputy recorder.
Mr. George Bartlett has boon absent from school several ,
days owing to the severe illness of hie father. Word came,
Tuesday announcing his father's death.
The debate between tho D. B. D. O. and Wosloyan which
was to have been held last Friday evening was declared off
owing to sickness of the latter's representatives.
