: , - IThf u 1 Hesperian. WEEKLY JOURNAL OF THE UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA. NOT K TITRN The Titan so in myths of old Groans from hts heart, and throws His mighty arms about the bold Harsh crags, and roars his voes In voice, like crashing thunder rollea O'er Etna's lava floes. Crushed by the hills, and lacerate, His breast heaves up the stones, And tosses up the cliffs by fate Heaped on him; and he groans; Pours the red passion of his hate, And groans, and writhes, and moans. Not Titan born, and yet I feel His burden jagged and rude, The heart's pain, sharp as jagged steel, To be misunderstood, Or known as what I'm not unreal, Untrue-: or misconstrued. I'm not a Titan. Dare I hate? To love were harder yet; And, still, I'd gladly love and wait, Life's best law not forget; That, turned at last, though long and late It be, they'll pay the the debt. If they pay it not, without a groan, Nor aught that shames true men, I'll bear the weight of pinching stone For what I've done or been; And pass, if I must, life's bound unknown Nor writhe, nor moan, till then.
