Hero's to the men who lose!
What though their work bo o'er so nobly
planned,
And watched with zealous care,
No glorious halo crowns their efforts grand,
Contempt is failure's share.
Hero's to the men who lose 1
It triumph's easy smile our struggles greet
Courage Is easy tbon;
The King is ho who after lloroo defeat
Can up and fight again.
TO tHE VANQUISHED
Here's to the inon who lose !
The ready pluudits of a fawning world
ing sweet in victor's oars;
The ,VanquIshed'8 banners never arc unfurled,
For them thero sound no cheers.
Hero's to th.i men wIjo loo!
The touchstone of truo worth is not success;
Thero is a higher test
Though fate muy darkly frown, onward to press
And bravely do one's best,
Hero's to the men who lose I
It is the vunqulshed's prulses that I sing.
And this the toast I choose:
"A hard fought failure is it noblo thing.
Here's luck to them who loso 1"
