Governor Poynter has appointed Miss Madge Wiggins to a scholarship in a cooking school at Worcester, Mass. MIes Nora Davis has been seriously ill with tonsilitis during the past week. She was reported today as some bettor. Miss Anna Lytic, '98, who is instructor in the David City high school, was visiting with her Pi Beta Phi sisters over Sunday. The Haydon Art Exhibit is now on display in tho Univer sity art rooms. Tho local chapter of Kappa Sigma will celobratc the second anniversary of its founding, next Monday evening, by a ban quet at the Lincoln hotel. Tho basket ball game which was to have been played in Omaha February 10th, the University team versus Omaha Y. M, C. A. team, has been declared off. Tho management of the Philharmonic Concert, which is to bo hold tonight, has made a special rate to students. All desiring to take advantage of this rate must call at tho Con servatory oflice. Prof. Ward offers a course in the Evolution of Animal Life. The hours of recitation have not been arranged yet. Tho course is one which will be very interesting to those specializ ing in natural sciences. The season has como again when senior canes and hats aro tho much desired prizes of inquisitive juniors and tho constant menace to tho over suspicious senior. But with all the seniors' watchfulness three have been left to mourn tho loss of their idols. Mr. H. H. Hanks has just returned from his homo in Ne braska City, where ho has been detained for a few weeks. He will resume his studies tho coming semester, and incidentally look after his interests in tho oratorical contests. Tonight ho will take part in tho Palladian contest. Miss Eflio Price, of New York, International Secretary of Y. W. C. A., will spend a week in tho University of Nebraska. Miss Price has a national reputation as a public speaker and as an organizer. During the week she is here one of the events will bo a joint reception by the Y. M. and Y. W. 0. A. at tho Lincoln hotel, February '20th, to which all students will bo invited.
