this week.
History papers are in various stages of development through
out the library.
Dell Thornburry is now smilingly handing out provisions in
the physics store room.
P. B. "Weaver went home Tuesday to' wait for the opening
of the second semester.
Senator 0. J. Warner was an active participant in the danc
ing school Monday night.
Prof. Fossler announces a class in beginning German. Miss
Hepner will have charge of the same.
Edwin Jones has been making some splendid collections of
birds recently for the Taxadormy class.
P. B. Weaver is keeping tab on the legislature. He con
tends that Hayward or Field will bo elected senator.
Miss Flora Bullock has not yet recovered from the severe
attack of the grip from which she has suffered since the holi
days. Mr. Hedgecock, assistant in Botany, has been sick" at his
home. His ailment was first reported to be the grip, but now
it is said to be the measles.
The Unions are running a slate for the Doane vs. U. B. D.
0. debate February 4th. They expect to take 'a merry crowd
down the valley of the Blue.
Miss Effie K. Price, secrotary of the International College

The gymnasium classes are looking with envious eyes on
the many sections of that new organ which Prof. Fossler has
scattered around the west half of the armory .floor.
A. R. Congdon was recently elected to a place in the corps
of the Lincoln High School teachers. Miss Tromain was also
elected to a position in the history department of the same
school.
Edwin JoneB has just mounted a French Vesper sparrow,
which ho has added to his collection of birds. He is now
planning a night expedition to secure soins owls and other
night fowls.
Few schools of the West havo made the progress that High
land Park College has under the management of President 0
O. Roanck. The Schools of Pharmacy, of Telegraphy, and
of Engineering well merit the reputation they have gained.
The students and faculty of the Nebraska College of
Oratory will present Victor Hugo's Ruy Bias, at the Oliver
Theatre, February 27th. All. lovers of classic literature and
drama should attend. The Othello of last year is a sufficient
guarantee of what can bo expected of this coming presentation.

Tho Union boys onjoyed one of the most exciting debates
of tho season last Saturday night, on tho question involving
Congressman Roberts' poligamy case. J. H. Stutevillo, Weaver
and Maguire wore close competitors for highest honors i) the dis
cussion. Next Saturday night the club will discusp the ques
tion as to tho desirability of a national divorce law.
