JHob many moons ago, daring tie late vaca
laoiij Will Boose and Boy Ctishmaii singly and
jointly made up their minds to visit the
neighboring village of Palmyra a wheel back.
Xow if rumormay.be trusted each of the
aforesaid swains had it in his heart, uuba
known to the other, to call on the same young
lady in the village
The practice of riding to chotd even morn
ing stood Roy to good account while on the
other hand Will's greenness tat riding I mean)
proved to be a very thorn in the flesh to him.
After a world of small annoyances such as
walking up quarter-mile hills. Boose picked
himself up from a heap by the roadside and
proceeded leading his broken steed toward
Ilnryra. at the same time praying for a fann
er, which prayer, by the way, was speedily
answered. Meanwhile Roy had disappeared
over the hill toward his heart's desire. As
usual, however. Will and the lumber wagon
beat hitn to town. I draw the curtain over
the reception of the gallants by the object of
their several quests. I know not which re
ceived her token yet matters were so amicably
settled that her brother conveyed them both
to Lincoln iu due time, also in a lumber
wagon.
