J. II. McGuffey has been appointed to suc
ceed J. F. Boomer on the young men's col
lege settlement committee. Mr. McGuffey
has arranged a night class in Arithmetic un
der Frank Miller, and one in penmanship un
der J. II. Overturf at the "Graham-Taylor
House."
It will soon be time for those interested in
Tennis to begin their practice. If enough in
terest is manifest Manager Burgert will be
able to secure some good games. Already of
fers have been made for an inter-collegiate
tournament to bo played under the auspices
of the Omaha Tennis Association upon their
grounds during the opening week of the Oma
ha Exposition.

Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Reed pleasantly enter

playing various social games. Those present
were Dr. Jones, Prof. Caldwell, Misses Rick
etts, Guile and Pinkorton; Messrs. Kuhlman
and Philbrick; Mr. and Mrs. Franklin, Mr.
and Mrs. Feldmann, Mr. and Mrs. Reed.
A communication from the board of college
settlement should have appeared in the Hes
perian of last week. The board is much en
couraged by tho result of Mrs. Manning's stu
dent's program. Tho net proceeds will
amount to nearly 805. The board desires to
make tho College Settlement entertainment
an annual event. The board extends hearty
thanks to tho students for their patronage
and to Mrs. Manning for the success of the
entertainment.
