Arthur C. Mayer, who will be remem

covered from a severe attack of rheuma
tism brought on by a chilly reception
from his best girl Thanksgiving.
Saturday night the Maxwells discussed
the right and expediency of tho U. S.
recognizing tho Cuban rebels as belliger
ents. Sackott. and Keram claimed wo
should, while Warfield and Jones denied
it. We believe the debate was tho most
creditable held so far this year. The time
for extemporaneous speaking was devot
ed to the election of officers for the second
term. After an hour of rather undigni
fied wrangling, Abbott and Green gath

precipitous adjournment under the spe
cious plea that the lights must be out at
ten-thirty. The question for next meot

Mrs. Manning's classes will give an en

Competitors for tho annual prize can
have their stories type-written at tho rate
of 25 cents per thousand, by handing
thorn to tho Annual Board. Stories mint
be in by Jan. 15.
Tho class in Journalism were required
to write editorials on tho president's mes
sage, and many of tho unsophisticated
journalists went to work and read the
message ( ! ) before passing judgement
upon it.
Mr. Studd, met with tho Volunteor Y.
M. and Y. W. C. A. Tuesday night. A
very profitable hour was spent. He also
spent an hour with some of tho boys
afterward. Ho left for Dos Moines Wed
nesday morning.
Tho new caps and chevrons have come
and the battallion is now in full uniform,
ffhere will be a dross parade Friday after
noon. Tho battallion flag, of scarlet and
cream silk with the letters ''J. N." will
be a now feature.
