College Settlement Outlook.
After careful consideration at the be
ginning of last year, a number of inter
ested members of the faculty decided to
undertake the work of supporting a col
lege settlement with the cooperation of
interested students. Professors Wolfe,
Hodgeman and Fling, constituting a
faculty committee, cooperated with a
joint committee from the Ohristiau As
sociations to that end A settlement
house was opened up at Ninth and Z
streets where our students might meet
and mingle with those who gathered
there.
So well was the work received that a
more commodious' house was required,
and at the beginning of the present year
the settlement was located in the present
pleasant quarters at 8lh nndXstieets.
The last "'oar's faculty committee stood
finan.ly responsible for all expenses
incident to the work. Their appeal to
the faculty was responded to so liberally
that the opening of the present school
yearwnv all expenses met and a balance
in the treasury. Looking forward to the
time when the work should enlarge
greatly in response) prestin demands,
this committee recommended that a
Hoard of Control, consisting of three
members of the faculty and four mom
,,6rR r tho student 'body, should bo
ehosen with absolute powor to control
and to direct the work. Tho board now
cons'wtsof Professors Hodgeman, Adams,
dossier, Messrs Corey, Boomer, Kuhlmmi
nnd.M'wH Whiting. Tho faculty and
Htudents arc alike asked to contribute to
the financial support of the work. It is
eonsmvntively estimated that at least ou
hundred and fifty dollars will be ivquired
to meet bare necessities the coming year.

voluntary contributions from students,
