Ernest Wiggenhoru and George . Shedd
spent Sunday at their homes in Ashland.
Miss Northup, daughter of Chancellor
Northup of Minnesota, is the guest of
Chancellor and Mrs. McLean.
Robert Haile, formerly a student here,
visited the University Saturday. At present
he is teaching at Roca.
A committee has been appointed by the
P. 13. D. C. to confer with the U. B. D. C.
relative to a joint debate.
The Palladiaii8 are making preparations
to celebrate the quarter centonial anniversary
of their society which will occur some time
next fall.
The Phi Kappa Psi fraternity entertained
a few of their friends last Saturday evening,
celebrating the granting of the local chapter
a year ago that date.
The Ashland club met March 10, and
entertained the faculty and senior class of
the Ashland high school. Prof. Fling
addressed the club.
The Hesperian is in receipt of a letter
from Alfred B. Lyon, Fitzgerald, Georgia.
"The paper for romainder of the year."
Dr. Lee's class read Prometheus Bound
from beginning to end last Friday, each
student studying an especial part. They
will now begin Plato's Phaldo.

Lee Holdon '90, has been .confined to his
room several days with a serious attack of
la grippe.
The State Oratorical contest will take
place at Crete, March 20. The contestants
are S. W. Pinkcrton of the University of
Nebraska and H. C. House of Donne, A
special train will bo run from this point and
round-trip tickets will bo fifty cents. Toin
the procession and stand up for tho TJni
vorflity of Nebraska.
Tho Porshinga have adopted as a penalty
for absence from drill a fine of twenty-five
cents. No excuses are to be accepted. It
is hoped by this means that tho regular at
tendance necessary for a crack company will
be secured.

Dr. Sherman delivered his lecture,
"Spiritual Law in the Natural World," at
Plattsmouth on Sunday evening, March 8,
under the auspices of the Cass county
Teachers Association. Tho congregations
of the three leading city churches united
their evening services in the commodious
Presbyterian church for the occasion. The
professor was. at his best, and as he warmed
up to his subject earnestly, with' quiet,
penetrating enthusiasm, the large audience
showed their appreciation by eager attention
and by many subsequent expressions of ap
proval. Plattsmouth accounts coroborato
the prevalent University opinion that Dr.
Sherman's physical proportions nro not oven
a hint at his real intellectual and spiritual
dimensions,
