Miss Martha Burks, of Beatrice, visited
friends in the University last week.
Mrs. Mickey, of Osceola, Nebraska, spent
Sunday with her daughter, Miss Blanche.
Miss Chapel, who is teaching at Exeter
was home last week and attended the joint
debate.
J. W. Crabtrce read a paper entitled,
"Was Lincoln a Christian?" before the
Lancaster teachers1 association last Saturday.
W. Beed Dunroy has been appointed
organizer for the Knights and Ladies of
Secarity.

The Beta Thela Pi entertained at their
chapter house, 1023 H street, Saturday eve
ning, Feb. 22th. Dancing was the special
feature of the evening.
The graduating class of Ashland high
school has engaged Chancellor Maclean to
deliver the commencement address in June.
Supt. George Farley, of Cass county, has
secured Chancellor Mac Lean to give a lec
ture before the spring institute at Weeping
Water in the last week of March.
Prof. Fling will deliver an address before
the Alumni Association of the Falls City
high school in May.
Word was received yesterday by friends
in the city of the death of Will C. Hall, a
former student of the University and in
1893-1 an assistant in the zoological depart
ment. The committee on athletics is considering
the advisability of having a state field day
here in May. The committee is also endeav
oring to secure a coach from Harvard for
next year.
A good deal of interest is being taken in
athletics this spring. The boys are practic
ing base-ball every day in the armory.
Mrs. Manning's dramatic club will giyp
an entertainment at Eagle next Satarday
night.
