A committee from the debating associa
tion has been appointed to secure credit for
work done in the joint debate.
Professor C. (In the American history
seminar.) "Mr. Montmorency, will you
take as your special topic "The Courtship of
Lincoln"?
Mr. M. (ardently.) "Yes sir, yes sir!"
and "Monty" turned a delicate crimson as a
ripple of merriment at his enthusiasm on
such a subject passed round the class.
ENGLISH CLUB MEETS.
The English club held their first regular
meeting this year with Miss Julia Wort.
All had the nicest kind of a time, since
eveiy one felt glad to re-inaugurate the series
of meetings which brought so much pleasure
last year. Professor Bates, Miss Prey and
3Iiss Bruner read excellent poems. After
the program the club was interested in a
game of abomnible puns, ?uch as the follow
ing: "What is more than a sandy shore V
The answer of which is, "Beecher."
Alumni an4 044 Students.
O. T. Reedy, an old Delian, has been
visiting in Lincoln.
W. F. Wolfe, jr., '93, Union, has now a
lucrative law practice in one of the southern
states.
Ella McCroskcy, '95. Palladian, now
marshals the books in the city library at
Tecumseh.
Miss Clinton is out of school, that is the
University proper, this year, but is taking
music at the Conservatory
A. C. Pancoast, a last year's Delian, is
missed by his old friends and acquaintances.
He is teaching near Ashland.
Miss Maude Hammond has a prospering
clas of twelve or fifteen members learning
Latin declensions.
E. 31. Pollard still has his hand in politics
down in Cass county. He will probably be
a candidate for the legislature next year.
Al Williams, '89, is now at the head o
the Botanical department State Agricultural
school of South Dakota at Brookings.
C M. Skiles' name appears on the Cham
berlain Business College circulars as head of
the University preparatory department.
The democrats in Montana had better
keep their eyes peeled. With the Johnson
boys having Montana as their headquarters
fur will soon fly.
C. A. Beach of Schuyler, has been for
some days in the city shaking hands with
old Uni. friends. He would have gone out
with '98 but accepted a position with the B.
& M. as mail agent.
LAW SOIi 00 1. LOCALS.
J. W. Baker, '95, is practicing law at
Burwell, Neb.
Miss Davisson, the only lady in the class
of '96, is back again.
Wilson, Gardiner, Wiggins and Haj'ward
are absent, having gone with the foot-ball
team.
Juice Abbott has not yet returned from
his trip with Ringling Bros. He was en
gaged by them as a coronet soloist.
Joe Jones, a former student of the Uni
versity, is back this year taking Junior law.
He and W. L. Williams are the present
custodians of the law library.
Judge Wilson, (to Senior class) "What
is cumulative evidence V
Harry Minor. "It is that evidence which
accumulates in the course of a trial."
0. H. Paul, class of '95, was in the city
iast week as a delegate to the republican
state conventio . He is located at St.
Paul, Xeb., where he is gaining a good
practice.
il. C. Ostien is principal of the Albion
high school this year. He and J. N.
Stephens are thinking some of forming a
partnership and entering upon actual prac
tice next year.
